Kindergarten News Week 34
We have just completed week 34 of the school year. This will be an exciting last few weeks ahead as we prepare your student for first grade! Next Friday on May 9th we will have a Mother’s Day Tea. We are inviting all the moms, grandmas, aunts, etc. to join us for a simple celebration together. We will have snacks and tea/punch. We are looking forward to it! Please watch for the signup genius to rsvp! More details to come! Next week we will have our CAPS(Child Assault Protective Skills) Lessons. Please see the form in this week’s Friday Folder. There is an important form in there. This is a OPT OUT ONLY form. If you do not sign the paper and send it back, we will assume we have your permission for your child to attend. If you prefer that your child doesn’t attend these lessons, sign the form and send it back Monday. I will make arrangements for them to join another class during that time.
This week we wrapped up the last unit in our math curriculum. We will complete our final assessment and some fun math activities next week. We also worked with the story “Jack’s Garden”. We did a close read, identified many new vocabulary words, and made comparisons to last week’s book “The Tiny Seed”. We also did a writing activity using “Jack’s Garden” for research. In science we continued our study of Animals, we have even begun our in-class animal research projects. In Fundations we have continued to build on our sentence writing skills and practicing sounding words out, and trick words! Our new trick word this week was “from”,
Next week we will learn the trick words “by” and “my” in Fundations and continue our word and sentence work. For ReadyGen we will be reading, discussing, and working with the story “ Plant Pattern”. The next couple weeks will be reinforcing the skills we have developed all year and doing some Step Up To First Grade lessons. We have learned several fun math games over the year, so we will do math games next week to reinforce our learning, and we will do our final assessments for the year.
We still have a lot of learning and growing to do over the next 3 weeks.
